Zakka (雑貨)

Zakka (from the Japanese 'zak-ka'（雑貨）or 'many things') is a fashion and design phenomenon that has spread from Japan throughout Asia. The term refers to everything and anything that improves your home, life and outlook. It is often based on household items from the West that are regarded as kitsch in their countries of origin. But can also be Japanese goods from mainly fifties, sixties and seventies. In Japan there are also so called Asian zakka stores, that usually refers to Southeast Asia. The interest in Nordic design or Scandinavian design, both contemporary and past, is also part of this zakka movement. Zakka can also be contemporary handicraft.

Busy and Happy!

After the motivational sales by da jie (thanks again), I'm 'inspired' to make more handicrafts.. spending time (after lilenen sleeps) to make a few :) Tiring but happy.. all the conceptualisation to reality gave me some energy and of cos, 'supportive' words from my lovely hubby helps too ;p

Handmade - Pin Board-cum-photo frame

Pin Board-cum-photo frame (Garden theme)
I was thinking of new handicrafts to make.. nowadays, 'zakka' is in trend :)
Making a reversible (or rather 2-way) photo frame to try. It could serve as a mini pin board for all lil' sweet notes or remove the cork board to become a pretty photo frame. Hopefully, this pretty and functional pin board-cum-photo frame will be popular :)
